How do you know the milk system needs cleaning?
- Cappuccino has a sour or rancid aftertaste. Milk residue is spoiling inside the frother tubes.
- The frother makes weak foam or stops frothing. Dried milk is blocking the channels.
- The milk module smells stale. Milk fat and protein settle in the circuit after every use.
A MILVERA cleaning cycle dissolves the fat-and-protein deposit and unblocks the entire milk circuit. Limescale in the boiler is a separate job — that is what a descaler is for, not MILVERA.
How to use MILVERA?
- 1. Prepare the solution. Mix 30 ml of MILVERA concentrate with 500 ml of warm water and pour it into the milk carafe.
- 2. Start the cleaning programme for the milk system (or run the solution through the frother manually).
- 3. Rinse with clean water at least twice. Rinse removable parts such as LatteGo under running water. After rinsing twice, MILVERA leaves no odour.

MILVERA and a descaler are two different products for two different jobs. MILVERA cleans the milk circuit (frother, tubes, carafe) of milk fat and protein residue. A descaler removes limescale from the boiler. An automatic coffee machine needs both: MILVERA weekly, a descaler every 2–3 months.
How often should I use MILVERA?
If you make cappuccino or latte daily, clean the milk system once a week. After each use of the frother a water rinse is enough — the deep clean with concentrate happens every 7 days.
